ROLE DESCRIPTION FOR SKILLED LEAD CARPENTER
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Lead Carpenter is responsible for overseeing daily job site operations and ensuring remodeling projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role combines hands-on carpentry expertise with leadership responsibilities, including coordinating field activities, mentoring crew members, and maintaining clear communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
The Lead Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work such as framing, cabinetry, trim installation, and structural modifications while also ensuring jobsite safety, cleanliness, and workflow efficiency. They play a critical role in problem-solving, maintaining project momentum, and delivering an exceptional client experience from start to finish.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily job site operations and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards
- Perform high-quality carpentry work including framing, trim, cabinetry, and structural modifications
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain project schedule and flow
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites at all times
- Mentor and support crew members to promote skill development and teamwork
- Identify and resolve jobsite challenges proactively to avoid delays or rework
- Ensure materials, tools, and resources are used efficiently and responsibly
- Maintain strong communication with clients and team members throughout each project

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of residential carpentry or remodeling experience
- Strong background in trim carpentry, framing, cabinetry, and finish work
- Prior experience leading job sites or small construction crews
- Working knowledge of residential construction methods, codes, and best practices
- Experience using construction management software
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions in the field
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans
